Will Vest - First blown save against Astros Vest blew the save Tuesday against Houston after giving up three runs on five hits and one walk with no strikeouts in one inning.
Impact It was the first blown save of the campaign by Vest, who entered the game with the Tigers hanging onto a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning. Vest yielded a Yainer Diaz single that drove in a pair of runs, one of which was inherited from Reese Olson, and he allowed two more runs in the seventh frame before being pulled. The right-hander still sports a 2.77 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB while converting three of his four save chances over 13 innings, so he should continue splitting save opportunities with Tommy Kahnle in Detroit's bullpen.

Matt Vierling - Nearing rehab assignment Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday on MLB Network Radio that Vierling (shoulder) should begin a rehab assignment "pretty soon," Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Jack Flaherty - Falls to 1-3 Flaherty (1-3) took the loss against Houston on Monday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four batters over five innings.
Impact Flaherty was given an early 3-0 lead, but he coughed up two runs on a Christian Walker homer in the bottom of the fourth inning. Another Astros two-run blast -- this time by Jose Altuve -- in the sixth frame gave Houston its first lead and set Flaherty up for his third straight defeat. The veteran righty hasn't pitched all that poorly during the three-loss streak, and Monday's outing marked the first time this season he's surrendered more than three runs in a game, but his ERA has increased from 1.62 to 3.34 during that stretch. Flaherty will look to get back in the win column his next time out, which lines up to come on the road against the Angels this weekend.
