Impact Maiava and the Trojans fell behind 24-7 in the third quarter of the Las Vegas Bowl, but Maiava led touchdown drives on four of the last five possessions for the Trojans to lead the comeback and pick up the bowl game win. After taking over the starting job midway through the year, Maiava finished the season, completing 60.1 percent of his pass attempts for 1,201 passing yards and an 11:5 TD:INT ratio, adding 20 carries for 45 yards and four touchdowns as a runner. Barring additions via the transfer portal under center, Maiava could be in line to start again in 2025.

This was on full display when he tossed back-to-back pick-sixes on the goal line during the fourth quarter, including one that was returned 99 yards and another that was returned 100 yards for Notre Dame touchdowns. Maiava moved the ball back down the field and threw his third passing touchdowns of the game when he hit wideout Ja'Kobi Lane for an eight-yard score with 13 seconds remaining. The signal-caller kept the Trojans in it for most of the game, but he ultimately cost the team a chance to win with these two crucial mistakes. Maiava completed 60.2 percent of his passes for 840 yards while scoring touchdowns 10 total touchdowns and committing four turnovers over the final three games of the regular season. He will likely remain under center for USC's upcoming bowl game.

Impact Maiava made his first start for the Trojans after replacing previous starter Miller Moss earlier this week. The UNLV transfer got out to a shaky beginning with two completions on his first seven passing attempts and throwing a pick-six on an off-target throw. He then completed nine straight passes and went on to throw touchdown passes of six, 12 and 48 yards, and he capped off his outing with a two-yard rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Maiava also lost a fumble on a scramble attempt in the second half, but his first start of the year was still a net-positive for the offense. He'll look to match this strong outing during next Saturday's road game against cross-town rival UCLA.
